    What is needed.
All of us have one common feature with each other, Everyone takes one thing or another for granted. Yet until something falters or eliminates that activity or object, No one tends to notice. Everybody has a different collection of things that drive them, Differing from living beings to objects or activities. For some it may be a game, Others may depend on a food or drink to give them that extra push in the morning. For me its the feeling of urethane against pavement, The grind of metal on metal, The grip between wood and tread. Weather it be yet another thing you and I have in common, or a first, I can guarantee that you have something equally important to you and you may never realize the love you have for it until it is missing.

Dad got a pair of shoes for him, some brown ones. I got two. One dad chose because We agreeded he could pick my shoes next (his thought is durability while mine is feel, flick and usually thin vulcanized shoe) so I got a pair of big leather white ones.
But for school, I got a pair of vans classic shoe, The Era, in one of the coolest colorway I had ever seen. When we got into the car, Mom said "ooo houndstooth checkers are your dads favorite!" dad replied in a low mumble sound. Later I called my grandfather and he said the houndstooth checkers were very popular in his time. After talking with him, I went to Emma's party. She loved her shoes to say the least, But her dad, Steve, Looked at my feet and said "hey! I had a sweater that looked just like that!"
I laughed because I now realized something, My shoes made older people happy, while younger people wonder what the point of having ugly wool shoes is.

I have been wanting to try vox shoes for so long Because of the herring bone grip. These shoes (Vox hewitts) are some of the most comfortable shoes I have had fir a while. They have lots of padding on the ankles and sides. The only part I am skeptical about is the toe cap. its a little thin.
Tonight i am swabbing them up with shoe goo and tomorrow im taking them to the skate park

    Stupid?
Today I was skateboarding around town because it was one of the first dry days we have had in a couple weeks. I left for about an hour. But i learned something I thought would be impossible...
You CAN get kicked out of ten spots in one hour.
Now I am totally with the security guards with the fact that skateboarding can, and most of the time does, ruin property. But one of these kick-outs puzzled me.
I went down to one of the shopping centers near me. The signs say no skateboarding on SIDEWALK in large bold letters with a poorly drawn skateboard with an X through it. I kid you not, you can barely tell it looks like a skateboard, It seriously looks like this:
    _____
    O O
anyway, I respected the pathetic illustration and went behind the stores on the blacktop.
While I was doing a few tricks, A guy comes out and yells at me. He tells me I can not skateboard there. I ask him why because the signs say I could skate on the blacktop. He said "because when you land, Your weight presses down on the concrete and makes dents in it" While he is getting into his semi truck.
so his logic works like this:
We do not want skateboarders here because the weight of them and the boards combined put dents in our concrete, but we can drive our 2,000 pound trucks on it an it will be fine.
    Equals dumb.

In happier days this week, I found two baby salamanders up in the woods of johnson's creek. I was taking duny for a walk on his 2nd birthday.
perhaps that dunys older, he will gain more dexterity...or...maybe not.

But when grandma came over last time, I got one of my new favorite shoes. The Vans Geoff Rowley Squares. This shoe was designed by one of my favorite skateboarders and has many re-vamped form of vans original features. This shoe has a micro waffle sole, which is amazing for skating but horrible for running on the dusty gym floor.
anyhow, this shoe had great feel, looks and comfort. But the most amazing thing about it is the fact it lasted from mid september to now! that may seem like a short time for you, but the last pair of shoes were destroyed in a few weeks. The shoe ripped on the lace holder and the laces themselves.
But all together, the only downside to this shoe is the part about a missing mid top. I really do feel naked without a mid top shoe and i don't really enjoy the constant fear of a rolled ankle whenever i do a big stair set.
So tomorrow, we will head down to the Vans outlet store in troutdale, and i will select my next victim.

when i was in kindergarden, I was always the weird one. when all the kids would be playing on the monky bars, I would be out in the trees, flipping rocks and ply wood looking for bugs, snakes, frogs and salamanders. When ever i would find one, I would race to all my friends with the creature and tell them everything I would know abot the creature, its name, what it ate and where it would live. I always imagined in my childly weirdness that somwhere, possibly in the bushes or under the slide, steve Irwin was watching me, and one day he would come out and take me to the zoo to work with him. Now many of you may think im crazy, but hey, when my mom was a kid and she sang down at the lake, she probably though paul mcartny and john lennon were hiding under a lilly pad or a log and would come out to take her to be part of the beatles. we all had our fantasies.
But in my lunch break today, I realized I had reached my goal. to be a conservationalist, educator and all around herpitological enthusiast. and to only think this is the begging, and I have my whole life left to do this, and if I can go to a exited little kid to where i am now in a matter of nine years, I can only imagine what will happen as I continue to age.

to the left is a photo of me and Fiona, a six foot long red tail boa. Fiona and I taught many people about snakes today. I would talk and she would win hearts of children

the final words weezed out by the summer sky...
This summer was rather fun. My two friends Mackenzie and Sam went on many adventures through the woods and found many spots that we now claim. we started the summer off with a single place we simply called "the fort" and it is a collection of large, fallen trees on the creek. they are on the water and are very sturdy, so its our "above water" fort. We jumped in the creek off the fort a couple times this summer, with the sun beating down upon us. The water is about 5 feet deep where we jump in and although we get many stares and angry yells from some passerbys, others will sit atop the bridge and laugh at the half naked fools swimming through the mucky brown waters of the creek.
But by the end of summer, we now have over 70 places marked around the johnson creek corridors and woods. Examples are the 3 different bogs, tallest tree in gresham (or thats what we think), Idiot island, slug slopes, nettle sea (not a nice place if you can imagine), bullfrog pond, bamboo fort, turtle bridge, crawdad bridge and of course bloody arm cinderfort. The BACF (bloody arm cinderfort) was found by me on a crawdad expedition.
it is two enormous cement blocks in the middle of the creek with large tree branches coming from High up and from the banks that go in between the large blocks so there are bridges. Called bloody arm for the fact that the first time I was there, I immediately sliced my arm open on the jagged rocks, and bled all over the large rocks...the blood stains still remain.
so as you might of guessed, the creek is ours in many ways.

This is what it means to me
Skateboarding has evolved so much in the past years
What used to be a simple way to have fun with friends has become a sport associated with young punks looking for trouble.
I found this video and I really liked it.

    To teach what you know
This week was my first out of two weeks of teaching Children about reptiles. It is and age are varying from 2nd graders to 5th graders. Some are quiet and some are loud.
The kids I am teaching are all Talented and gifted (TAG) kids. and they all have somesort of disposition.
These are the kids from week one

Sophie: Sophie is the only girl in the class. She is very quiet and very bright. She is in love with a small Rosy Boa. She thinks the rosy boa is the best because it is small and it feels very nice.

Taha: Taha is a very interesting boy. Every day he will come to school with a new hair color. He is Loud and likes to make things his way and change rules to the games we play. He is frightened of touching snakes and loves to ask questions. His favorite is the bearded dragon because it is big.

Nico: Nico is a very good couperator. He follows directions and never talks out of turn. He likes lizards and geckos the best, but his family will only let him have a turtle or a tortoise because they are slow and friendly. Nico's favorite was the three toed box turtle.

Solomon: solomon is the youngest of the group and also the brightest. He knows so much and if you tell him something it will stick in his head. He thinks very quickly and will go back and correct errors in his sentences if he notices one.
His favorite is the ball python because it is so big but moves so gracefully.

Gerardo: This boy knows alot and loves reptiles. He is talkative and loves to learn new things. He has trouble talking because of his braces and will generally hold his R's out.
Gerardo's favortite was also the ball python because it has Markings that look like pumas.

Matthew: Matthew hasd been in this class many times before and loves to meet new animals. He has a great personality and is like by alot of peirs and teachers.
His favorite animal was the Black pine snake because it was large and all black

Sean: Sean was a good listener and a good learner. when we played our ball name game he was a good one to remeber all the names and all the orders he had to go in.
Seans favorite was the leopard gecko because it was small and soft.

Wuan: Wuan was a very quiet person who spoke loud when he was with his friends. H liked to learn and participate in the class activities.
Wuans favorite was the bearded dragon because it was spikey.

This class was not to teach these kids about reptiles, But it was to teach them how to care for something that cant care for itself in captivity. We taught them how to build cages and how to handle animals, as well as to be gentle and kind to others.
Kristy Fosback is the teacher who set this class up. Joni Jones (my herp courdinator) And I have set her room up with animals a while back because she wanted her kids to be able to see animals acting normal in habitats.
She has always came to us for help with her animals and will listen so well once you tell her something.
During this teaching session I found to unfertile eggs in her leopard geckos cage and she thought that it was the coolest thing in the entire world.

After teaching the class, Joni and I would go out and eat lunch and different fast food stores. we found out that carls jr. will give you gross hamburgers for your money and that your best bet for money saving and great taste is wendy's and taco bell.

I really enjoy teaching these kids about something I know and I really am exited for monday to come along.

    SUMMER!!!
Friday was My last day of seventh grade. for many of the more sensitive people, it was a sad day to leave there school, but for Me, Sam and Mackenzie, We threw our binders into the trash and ran as fast as we could to the creek. Our idea was that since this school year went by fast, Summer will have a sooner death then normal aswell.
We're going to swim in the creek, get lost in the woods, get lost in the city and find new places.
As for my girlfriend and her friends, we will explore the wilds of Gresham mall...not as exiting as it may seem...but fun all the less.

    Adventures...hi hoh
As always, My weekend was fun. But this one was BIG fun. On friday I had the day of from school so I went to help with my former grade school's Feild day. Feild day is when there are a bunch of events instead of school work. Things like stilt walking (which I conducted) Baseball, Recess, tag and many other things. I met with my 4th and 5th Grade teacher, Ms.Frewing. I told her about a new snake I had recently got (a six foot Beauty snake) and she demanded me to go get it to share with the class. So I went home and got the snake. I also brought my bearded dragon. I ended up showing four different classes these poor animals. But everyone enjoyed them.
That night was my friend Sam's 13th birthday party. We went to a movie and found out that you could lift up the armrests on the chairs and use them as beds. We played glowstick tag. Hide and go seek in the dark. and got Absolutly no sleep. The next day I was bored so I went and sat on the warm median of powell street. Sam got the great Idea of having signs. sams said "hi, how are you?" mackenzie's said "Im single ladies. Honk for a date" and mine said "honk if you think were stupid." I was standing on a picnic chair holding the sign when sam came up and pantsed me...we got alot of honks then.
Today, Ed and I went downtown and played at the saturday market. I bought mom a necklace and Ed bought me a burrito. WHen I got home I went to Mackenzie's house (he is a boy for those wondering) We called sam and went down to a bridge to catch crawdads. We (as in me) caught one crawdad and saw a weird eel thing. We went down springwater trail some more and caught a few snakes. Then we came across a path that we had always known about but never gone on. So we went on an adventure. The first one led us to a ring of Tagged trees with words like "fuck" and "death" sparyed into them. most likely by some testorone poison teen. We paid the signs no heed and kept walking. We ended up in a swamp and the only way out was to go through some blackberry bushes...so we did. When we got out, bloody and itchy, We explored another path. 20 minutes into the hike, Sam got bored and left us. Mackenzie and I walked for another ten minutes and came across a small creek. He leanded up against a dead tree which fell just as he leaned onto it. We laughed and walked out of the woods...and we Had no Idea where we were. Then I noticed something...Fred meyers...Somehow we had hiked a mile away from the creek and got to fred meyers. We sat down for a while...then went home.
    Thats what fun is.

    Life as its been going
Alot of things have happened to me the past couple months, I have started seventh grade, lowered the reptilian collection, I have made some new friends, and I now work at OMSI.
Seventh grade is much more fun then sixth grade, Partly because I know everyone now, I have new teachers and new friends and I have a new locker.
I have finished the first trimester not to long ago, The only change I have made is that I now have P.E. instead of Health in first period. I am still getting along with my old friends and my new friends.
My collection of animals has remarkably decreased from a whopping 38 animals to 21 animals. The new centerpeice of my collection is a scheltopusik (Russian legless lizard) named Ferras. My favorite of the group is stil Strife, my Tokay gecko.
My two newest friends, Sam and Mackenzie (Mackenzie is a boy) are very good friends. Most of the time where off doing Hairbrained stunts on the skateboard, bike or scooter. We almost always eat lunch at Burger king and hang out at G.I. joe's. We will also play Hide and go seek in Kmart.
Working at OMSI was a option That I got from working with NWHKA (my reptile group) My job is to clean and feed the animals at Pepco, (OMSI's animals) which Include 2 cornsnakes, lots of walking sticks, 6 leopard geckos, 2 bearded dragons, 1 rose hair tarantula, 1 red knee tarantula, 1 tree frog, 1 day gecko, 3 axoltls, fish, hissing cockroaches, a crab, veild chameleon, 2 russian tortoises and a ball python.
My life has been very cut out for me latly...

    7th grade, whatever.
A couple weeks ago, I started school again. I am now in 7th grade at a school led by a chrishtin principal. I have done almost everything to get him not to like me. Reasons are: I have pet snakes (the devils henchman! OOOOOooooOOOO!)
I have long hair and I sometimes wear bell bottom jeans (Help! the crossdressitude is killing me!) and the worst part for him, is that I can do all of this, and he cant yell at me.
I now feel sorry for My old locker buddy, Taylor. He would always complain about the clutter (and animals) running freely around our locker, It did not bug me, so he got over it. But today, my new 7th grade locker buddy, and also best friend, Jacob sundquist gave me some Karma. I opend our locker and a total of 3 posters, 4 textbooks, a box of pencils and a pack of animal crackers flew out and landed on my feet. I of course new that I had done the same thing to taylor, I was nice and in a cluttery fashion, Threw his stuff back in there (amazingly, I only ate on cracker in the process)
All and all, I am happy with this new year, I have all my wonderful friends and one wonderful teacher, the rest I dont like.

    My hero
The very first person that took the role of being my hero was steve irwin. I would run to the television and watch my favorite show "the crocodile hunter" whenever it was possible. I would go out into the field by are house and pretend that the small garter snakes were dangerous cobras and vipers, and my friend steve would be right there helping me catch them.
I was woken up this morning by a telephone call, It was my reptile club instructor, Joni. She asked me If I had heard the news, I had no Idea about what she was talking about so I said no. Then she said those words...Steve was dead. I was shocked, after talking to her I rushed to my computer, it was all over the Internet.
He was filming the next season of his show. It was dangerous animals of the sea. He was swimming in less then 6 feet of water when a hiding stingray's barb came out of the sand and penetrated his heart, He may have died on contact but he died fast because when he floated to the surface he was dead.
Steve was my hero. I still watch all of his shows, even if I have seen them billions of times. My dream was to go to australia and qualify for a job at the australia zoo and finally meet him, I guess I was wrong. I will still apply for the australia zoo, but it won't be the full reason why I wanted to.
With out Steve, I doubt I would have, or know as much as I do about reptiles. I would still have the love for them, But just not the same way. I learned almost everything I know from steve, and I'm glad that he was the one who taught me.

My times being eaten by a boa constrictor
A while back, I got a red foot tortoise. At the time, I thought a tortoise would be a fun animal. He was fun and very smart to start with. But after time, he got less and less fun. I thought, I dont want this animal, so I put it up on craigslist.
Last night, a women by the name of alex stopped by to take the tortoise away. She was very friendly and knew alot with reptiles. She was the vice president of the herp club I am in a while back.
She told me that the tortoise was going to be in a custom built cage with a female, so when she offerd me a low price of fifty dollars, I accepted.
Well the cage that Turbo (tortoise) was in was a double decker cage. There was a top have and a bottom have seperated by turbo's water dish. Rotten rosy (who is becoming a sucsses story I might add) was in the bottem half.
Now there is no tortoise. So today I made the best cage I have ever made. I did some blueprints, and came up with the perfect idea.
The bottem half would be like a forest floor, some rocks, dirt and water. On the bottom floor there are 4 sticks that connect the top floor to it. The top floor, she would get to by climbing her mini tree, was like the inside of a tree, There are sticks, bushes and vines throuout the area.
I am very happy with my work and so is rosy. Mom is a little sad because she liked the tortoise. He had a personality unlike the rest of my sleeping animals...and now that I think about it, moms right.
rosy and the turtle have (and had I guess) the best personalitys. turbo was smart and frienly. Rosy bites and talks later.
